OAC Ministries is a specialist Christian ministry that began in Australia and has spread around the world. Begun in 1892, it was known as Open Air Campaigners from 1922 until 1983. Now known as Outreach And Church Minsitries, OACM is an active interchurch organisation that exists to share the Christian message with people of all ages.
OACM has five main areas of ministry:
The local church is God's agent for evangelism. OACM recognises this and works with local churches to help them reach more people in their community. The team uses such events as coffee mornings, breakfasts, youth activities, children's programs, family programs and evangelistic services to make contact with people of all ages, sensitively challenging them with tbe gospel.
Each year, thousands of people throughout Australia are reached with the gospel during the holiday season in caravan parks, on beaches, at holiday clubs, etc. Staff and trained voluntary workers employ a wide range of creative techniques to present exciting, attention getting evangelistic programs. Children hear the good news through puppets, catchy songs, sketchboard stories, object lessons and bible verse memory games. The team also presents evangelistic programs for the whole family, including dramas, musical items, ventriloquist routines, puppet shows, illusion and items from the children.
OACM is committed to equipping people to be effective in ministry. Regular training seminars are conducted throughout Australia for people involved in cbildren's ministry. These focus on providing people with creative ideas, skills and resources that will encourage them in, and better equip them for this vital work.
Staff also participate in Bible College lecturing, offer on the job training by way of six and twelve montb Internships, and provide practical training and resources for youth and cbildren's workers.
In Australia, we still have the freedom to bring the message of the gospel into the school classroom. OACM supports regular Religious Education programs by conducting hundreds of special seminars in schools each year. Our teams have the ability to work with large groups of students, and to make the gospel message clear, simple and interesting.
Because of this, they are regularly invited to lead seminars in schools, especially in the periods leading up to Christmas and Easter. As with the holiday outreach programs, these seminars involve the use of such creative techniques as puppetry, sketchboard drawings, drama, illusion, object lessons and music to convey the good news effectively.
Camps provide a special opportunity to present the gospel of Christ. Staff conduct camps for evangelistic and follow up purposes, and are often invited to speak at camps arranged by church groups. These include Sunday School, Youth and Family Camps, etc.
In addition to these, OACM incorporates unique areas of ministry that seek to meet specific needs in today's society. These include:
Jim and Grace Vine conduct seminars
throughout Australia addressing the need for counsel and instruction in marriage
and family matters.
