Rules for Being a Guest Site in The Ring of Fooles

  • The Purpose of The Ring of Fooles is to promote The Mission Statement.

  • Each Guest Site of The Ring of Fooles WebRing WILL have a seperate page which is NOT the normal base home page of the linked Site, but the welcome (intro) page where the WebRing code for The Ring of Fooles is displayed. This page will also display WHY the linked Site is part of The Ring of Fooles. Links into that Guest Site will direct the web browser to the relevant parts of that Guest Site, with a prominent link into that Guest Site's main page, and any other sections the Guest Site owner wishes to highlight.

  • Each Guest Site may also have on as many other internal pages of their Site as they wish to, a minimalistic link (such as the text only link) which leads back to The Ring of Fooles if it suits the purpose of the Guest Site. All the Webring code should be checked carefully, preferably with the help of the RingMaster, to ensure that no errors exist which prevent the proper working of the Ring code.

  • If the RingMaster receives reports that a Guest of The Ring of Fooles is sending UCE/SPAM, that Site is liable to be removed after investigation.

  • The RingMaster retains FULL AUTHORITY regarding this webring and makes the decisions as to what sites may be added to or removed from the The Ring of Fooles. Guest Sites that no longer comply with the rules (or any changes thereof) may be removed. Any Guest Site may be rejected or accepted at the sole discretion of the RingMaster.

  • Please do not 'cheat': do not add your Site if you intend to remove the coding from your pages after being added. The coding must remain on the referenced page - you can move the page around, and use the WebRing edit function to fix the reference, but what is on the referenced page must comply with The Rules. Write sufficient of your page before you submit it to demonstrate your compliance with The Rules (you can use placeholder paragraphs). You can add to it or modify it later. When the page satisfies the RingMaster, it is elegible to be moved to the list of active Sites. If you have been in the queue for a week or so and you think all is right, you may email the RingMaster if you have not been added - he may have been busy.

  • The Ring of Fooles will be checked regularly. Any Sites that no longer exist are liable to be removed immediately, so that the integrity of the Ring remains. If you are dumped by your ISP (you did keep a copy of your whole Site coding offline didn't you?), you can rejoin when you have a working Site again - just edit the info. Any Sites that no longer contain The Ring of Fooles coding may be removed. If you are browsing The Ring of Fooles and discover a page that no longer has the coding, please notify The RingMaster. You will have to manually decode my email address because of UCE/SPAM swamping.

  • Please make sure you read and follow the directions before submitting your Site! Failure to do so will most likely result in your Site simply being deleted from the queue, perhaps without even being advised why. I do have a life to live, and as a little thought will show, I already have a whole Troupe of Fooles to worry about!

[Bottel] Sticks and stones...

Those Sites which are eligible to become Guests of The Ring of Fooles are:

  1. The Virtual Fooles Troupe - and any subsections The Fooles Troupe Author wishes to promote.
  2. Anything else The Fooles Troupe Author has written and wishes to promote.
  3. Guest Sites with a similar interest to The Fooles Troupe. Any activity of the period of the Medieval Foole, such as Juggling, Period Theatre, music, songs, dances, stories, period fighting styles, Castles, etc would be relevant for a start. The more period the flavour, the closer to the Theme.
  4. Friends of The Fooles Troupe (usually by invitation) - The Rule of Good Friends may be relaxed (Hey! What's the point of having Total Power if I can't break the Rules I make anyway!).
