Here's a one file medley of Originals approx. 4.5Mb
NEW CD On the way before the end of the year... I hope. 4/08
CD "Smell the Cheese" unleashed 11/11/04 !!
1. Never been 1996 ish, Slide guitar song. (Dobro)
The full song is available on another website. COMPLETE SONG HERE...if you can't find it just type "ziza" into their search bar.
2. Travellin' Light - Short bit of an idea I had one day... liked the sound of it so stuck it on the CD. Maybe I'll finish it one day.
3. Killin' time on Hawthorne Street 11/11/02 - This has been described as "swinging" which I am happy about. The title says it all. I was parked waiting for my favorite (now defunct... B'stards!) Jazz band / Jam night to start and I wrote a whole lot of stuff about all the people (and there were a LOT). It was actually road though not street....hope ya like 6/9 chords. (Lyrics) This song is also on another website. COMPLETE SONG HERE
4. Two dentists and a funeral 21/6/01 -Is about a trip to the dentist as a young lad. We used to go to these two old blokes that had offices in a tall city building (Melbourne). This particular day was the funeral of ex-Prime Minister Mr. Robert Menzies at the church opposite. (Lyrics)
5. Tension sweet 1999 -I love playing this, Jazzy, simple but strange chord changes. There's a few things in this song but I think it's mostly about the tension we all get in situations like interviews / auditions. this was my way of releasing it. Still works too. (Lyrics)
6. No fury 1997 -I had a picture from a newspaper of a painting by Caravaggio (Judith beheading Holofernes). Gruesome stuff but very striking. I lost the print but some time after I wrote this trying to imagine what the story behind it was... Later found I'd got it wrong slightly but I won't let that bother me. It probably works better if you don't know the Biblical story.
(Lyrics)
7. Slidey Noodles #3 - intrumental snips on the Hubcap slide guitar....
8. Letters to your son - 20/5/01 A slide guitar song that just came out one day. Nothing autobiographical here, and is a sad tale, partly based on truth, so I don't play it much anymore. This is one of only two recordings I have made of it though there is a live version somewhere I think... (Hubcap Guitar)
9. Playin with fire 2002 - Ahhh..... well I don't really get into the words of this one anymore but it drives along and I enjoy playing it, so what the hell eh? (Lyrics) - (UPDATE) - though since becoming a member of the "S.L.B Club" again it has made a comeback.
10. Shalt not 1998 -Bit of Jazz/blues, lots of muckin around / add lib. not about anything in particular. See if you can pick the line about "The Day of the Triffids". (not in the sample, buy the CD! ;) (Lyrics)
11. Ziza Salad 25/8/03 - Part of an improvised slide guitar piece (played on the "salad bowl" guitar) Really just stuck it on the CD to show what this guitar sounded like. Hopefully I will be able to repair it some time.
12.Of sleep disturbed 15/5/01 - One of many I seem to have that started as a dream. This was one of those ones where you wake up startled and swear.
13. Misery loves company 2001 - I had a kind of short movie playing in my head with four main characters that don't know each other but end up intersecting. One is a suicidal girl (or maybe IV drug user it's not specific) and another is a hospital nurse or doctor. The other two represent youth and old age. I deliberately left a lot out of the lyrics so hopefully each listner can find something they relate to. (it wasn't sposed to be depressing honest! More the other way round.) Musically one of the more complicated ones I think. (Lyrics)
14. Slidey Noodles #1 - more like track 7.
15. Smell the cheese 16/3/02 -Another light and fluffy sounding one that is actually about deception. IE: The old "smell the cheese" game..."go on smell it, I ain't gonna hit yer..." (use a John Wayne voice ;). (UPDATE) - ended up using it for the title track and found a great picture to go with it (thanks John P. for the pic. :)
16. Stain of opposites 1998 - This is one of those annoying "message" songs. My attempt to comment on a local political party / group that was, to our shame, having some success. I was trying to avoid just another outright attack, of which there were many. As is the way with these things I'm not sure I was totally succesful being pretty much an onlooker rather than the reciever of racism. But I don't like to waste a song and I like the chords... (Lyrics)
17. OOhh, well well a "secret" track... or did I just print the covers before I found this recording.... It's called "IDEA2_DGDGA#D_EDIT" . Hmmm. (nice soft way to finish the CD :)
"Warts an All" CD: (March 2001)

Walking the mud- Named for my first experience at Woodford Folk Festival
Waterwheel - I saw a waterwheel at Woodonga this music goes round too.
On the edge - I once looked over the edge of the Great Aust. Bight....
Magpie stompy thing - Needed a name, Magpies run funny.
Headcold - Guess what, it's about having the flu. No lyrics on this version.
A minor theme - My early attempt to make Flamenco-like noises, is in A minor.
Roll with it - Had just made it up when I did this CD. This one has kept developing
Slow and cool - jazzy thing I no longer play. I think I had learnt an Am7 chord!
Late Night Flight- Only song on CD with vocals, is about dreaming I can fly..La La Laaa!.
Part A B and C - Long muther (sic) Light and fluffy.
Not yet on a CD:
Big Benny 1997/2003 - I stole..er I mean, I was inspired by this story from a book that Louis Armstrong wrote about growing up in New Orleans (don't tell anyone). It was called "Black Benny" after one of the characters he described but I've found that when I sing it people think I'm singing "Betty" instead of "Benny". So now he's "Big". The music is sort of a nasty blues/rock type thing (though lately more acoustic blues). I hope Louis can forgive me... (may he swing in peace) : (Lyrics)
Drinking glue 29/6/99 -Arrgghh!! The scream inside your head when you wake up with a HUGE hangover. Never never never never NEVER... again. This song is loud, aggro and very ugly... kinda like football. (any code) (Lyrics)
Dreary days 2001 - Oh I aint REALLY this morose... only sometimes get da blues. (Lyrics)
Boxing Boots 1998 - A character who liked to wear purple lace up boxing boots to night clubs and shake his booty. Also got up to various dodgy things and bragged about it. Sad but true. (Lyrics)
A Seconds' sight 10/01 - Armed to the teeth, three big brave white hunters trekked out into the Australian wilderness in search of those huge man-eating feral pigs. Didn't end up seeing any pigs but had a great time bird watching... if only I'd taken a camera instead of a howitzer.
Mo' Skeeters 2002Ahhh... a song about the users of this world (you know who you are!) using the poor little mosquito as one of them tricky met-a-fo's... got the idea for the name from a computer game called "Redneck Rampage". The biggist damn skeeters around! (I'm gonna getcha!) Finger picky blues in A usually play harmonica on it too. (Lyrics)
Head Cold (with lyrics) 2002
A Little Fairy tale 2001 - A Slide blues song. You work it out, I can't: (Lyrics)
Just a scratch - Old one that came to me... er.. was "revealed" to me one morning in a sleepy haze. Pretty much a work of fiction. (Lyrics)
And miscellaneous tracks I might release on a "bootleg" style CD..... Some of this I don't play anymore:
The Joss House - This was something made as a bit of joke (a lame one). Probably the only thing I'll ever admit to using a drum machine on. Also features several friends doing various things. Good buddy Ross-Bloke playing a little clean electric guitar!
Weird version of Killin Time (on Hawthorne St.)
"(I'm going) straight to the top...(Tom Waits)"
