The month that was
Here it is - Its the end of
July, and I haven't written anything this month! I'm running out of
time, so I'll just do a quick recap of the month. .
Flu
Its been a fluey month. Boomerang flu, I call it, it kept coming back,
but I think we are just about over it now. Miles has been very sick
with tonsillitis and ear infection. Not my favourite time of year.
Fluff
Mum has been insisting that she won't get another cat to replace
Panther (Panther went to pussy heaven a few months ago.) Now a
beautiful fluffy cat has decided to visit her every day. It belongs to
one of the neighbours, but it spends all day at Mums place and only
goes home for meals. It is such a friendly cat and wants to be cuddled
all the time. Its owners are probably at work all day and Fluff gets
lonely.

Sorting
I've been trying to tidy the shed where I store all the stuff for our
World Vision jumble sales. I've taken a few carloads of our surplus to
a local op shop, and almost had one side of the shed looking quite
neat. Then more stuff came in...
We're having a “Fill a Bag
for $4” sale this week. That should clear out a lot of winter clothes
and make room for the summer things. Winter is nearly over – I hope!
Festival
Yesterday, we had a stall at our community's annual festival. The
weather was perfect, and we sold hundreds of lucky dips, as well as
crafts etc. Most of the stall holders bring a tent or gazebo. We have
never bothered, because our site is under trees and as long as the
weather is fine, we are quite sheltered. We do have a problem however
with the flocks of white cockatoos (or they might be corellas) that sit
in the trees. We reached for our hats when we saw them coming. ( I'll
never forget the year I had to rinse my hair under the tap!) Several of
the items on our stall were splattered.
Speech Contest
I spent last week trying to write a speech for our Toastmasters
Humorous Speech contest. I finally managed to pull one together. I
didn't think it was very good, but it won the contest! I'll put it on
my site after the Area Contests.
Sorry, that's all I have time
to write now.
I'll really try to do better next time..
