Step-by-step of your Seat Conversion

1. Contact

We discuss your current problems and I steer you in the best direction for you and your pillions comfort needs.  I also give you a rundown on the high-grade foam and multitude of materials that can be used to cover your seat.

2. Sending

A great deal of my customers choose to use Australia Post as they seem to be reasonably fast to deliver/return.  However, if you wish to use your own courier or for me to organise some other form of delivery, just let me know!

3. Job

Most seat conversions take approximately two days to complete.  Your original foam and cover are removed and returned if you so choose.

The new foam is then attached to your existing base and time is taken to achieve your goal.  For comfort and style this is the time consuming part of the process, making sure that the desired shape is achieved.  A cover is then made using the materials of your choice or if you wish, mine.

The cover is water proofed.  Then fitted to your new ergo seat.

4. Delivery

Your seat is then packaged and sent back to you.

At this point you will need to be aware of a couple of points:

The high-grade foam used on your seat needs to be broken in.  I am sure if you have tried to source other seats, local or imported, this fact is made known.  The simple fact is that if you use inferior foam you will be sitting on your seat base within an hour or so.  Using high-grade, high-density foam, will only soften on the pressure points of your backside, giving you even support all over.

An average size person will take approximately 1000 kilometres before their seat is bedded in.  Sometimes sooner.  Sometimes later.  One thing is certain, you will know when from the messages sent by your rear end.

That all said, I would like to say, being a keen rider myself and having changed countless settings on my bikes to achieve the best from my ride, I realise that you occasionally have to fine tune some small points to get it PERFECT, which is why I try my hardest to reflect into your seat the changes you have conveyed to me.  I have always worked on the philosophy that if you are not TOTALLY SATISFIED with your seat, I will rectify the problem.

In finishing, I hope that if you have chosen my ergo seat you will be happy to tell anyone that asks, that the superior saddle on your bike was not an import bought off the shelf at your local dealer, but handcrafted in Australia to your own specifications with Australian materials and at roughly half the cost of an imported seat.

History

As I was a mad keen motorcyclist, I stumbled upon motor trimming as a profession.  I started experimenting on my own cycle seats and my knowledge grew from there.

Present

I now specialise in motorcycle seat design and enjoy what I do.  It is total hands on craftsmanship.  No foam injection or precut materials are used.  Just a knowledge of what works and what doesn't.

Future

In the future I hope to have:

1.  An ever greater knowledge of ergonomic foam design so as to make motorcycling even more of a buzz, if that's possible.

2.  A large proportion of the Australian Motorcycle fraternity enjoying a John Moorhouse Ergo Seat made in Australia with Australian materials.
