"ENCORE! - The Shirl From Ipanema"
Hola!
This week la Shirl encores a little latin thang and travels south
of her borders and for some tasty latin sounds. A little Samba
here...a little Mambo there...did someone say Cha-Cha? Go on...Bossa
Nova your sweet bippy into blissdom Shirleyphiles. Alas, the gorgeous
Carmen Miranda, pictured left is not in this week's show but there
are more sounds inspired by this Brazilian bombshell than you
can shake your maraccas at!
We listen to Xavier Cugat, Sergio Mendes and Brasil '66, Trini
Lopez, Eydie Gorme, Ella Fitzgerald, The Sandpipers, Luis Bonfa,
Wanda de Sah and The Voice of the Andes herself, Yma Sumac. Imagine
the sound of Yoko Ono having her flesh stripped by a pack of piranha's
during a moonlight swim and you may have an idea of the fabulous
vocal acrobatics Yma Sumac was capable of!
So go raid the fruit bowl, you really didn't want that banana
for breakfast anyway. Pour yourself a rum and coca cola, dress
your best boy up just like gorgeous Don Ameche and gets those
hips swaying to this week's show...*The Shirl From Ipanema*......*smooches*
Shirley.
...till
next time...take absolute care and play fair...
*smooches*
Shirl.
