Shirleyphiles
I can hear you saying to yourselves "Why oh why is la Shirl
donning leather and lace in the Australian Summer?" Vanity?
...not moi!...Is she trying to be a fashion "victim"
by wearing such inappropriate clobber in the current climate?
....me TRY to be a fashion victim?...au contraire....oh no guys
and dolls...this week it's a HARD rockin radio Shirley for the
Birthday boy of the moment...everyone's favourite decorator, electrical
gadget boffin, fount of useful knowledge, maker of a mean home
brew and sometime biker dude...the ever so congenial Stephen!
So I'm slipping into my Emma Peel biker leathers, jump starting
my customised Ducati and taking a wild ride down the highway of
70's guitar and glam rock into far "butch-er" territory...Shirley
style natch...than we've ever travelled down before.
Tempted
as I was to just whack on a side of Led Zep's "Physical Graffitti"
for Steve ....Kashmir rocks buddy! *wink*.... I made an executive
decision against it ......So in this week's high voltage but gloriously
low-fi half hour our gang consists of Ian Hunter, Lou Reed, War,
Alice Cooper, Gary Glitter, Suzi Quatro, Led Zepplin, Sweet, and
la Shirl's favourite falsetto Tiny Tim, displaying a rather uncharacteristic
baritone growl to wrap it all up with his take on the Acca Dacca
classic Highway To Hell! What a way to ride into a one pub town
with that pack of assorted luvverlies! Heaven on a gear shift
indeed!
So
hold onto your helmets sweet things, join moi in a good old spit
into the wind and a truckstop toast to Lisa's Birthday boy, Stephen!
*la Shirl drops an octave for a hearty and well meaning..... "Cheers
mate!"*
till
next time...take care and play fair....
*smooches*
Shirley
