Message from Shirley 16/8/2002

Muchos grazias to all you Shirleyphiles who sent birthday smooches and well wishes to the old girl during the week! May your worlds rain down sunshine, lollipops and rainbows! I must say a special thx to the gang who gathered at Chez Rockbourne around the bonfire last week for a quiet celebration...and of course to the hosts Lisa and Steve for indulging us. To the Toorak Road terrorists, mr. Benedict, Carolyn,Sarah and Matt who decided to pay moi a surprise visit while I was out trolling and felt the need to decorate the outside of my humble abode with streamers, balloons and a gorgeous birthday cake, sorry I missed you....but I've got your number and the plate it came on...hehe *wink*...and I feel gloriously violated!

*smooches* la Shirl

IN THIS WEEK'S PLAYLIST :

This week Shirl wipes her brow and has a girlpower moment. Yes, the gals on this week's show ain't muckin' around. Sassy sistahs who've been wronged and throw it back in bucketfuls. Bitter? Moi? All I can say is that...It Shoulda Been Shirley!

The late, great Divine, picured left, bangs out her 80's anthem, "You Think You're a Man", along with the queen of R.E.S.P.E.C.T herself, Aretha Franklin, Yvonne Fair, Linda Ronstadt, Etta James, Wanda Jackson, Lulu, Rita Jean Bodine and one of Shirl's all time favourite tracks by pre-Countdown era Marcia Hines. Could that woman cook!

It's that time again to turn up the speakers, fix yourself something yummy to drink, swallow the bitterest pill in your Nana's medicine cabinet, flip through Auntie Germaine's "Female Eunuch" and get groovin to another half hour of LOW-FI lovliness. *smooches* Shirley
