27/05/06 - In a Sentimental Mood with laShirl

Greetings Shirleyphiles ...
David Bowie once exclaimed "Ain't there one damn song that can make you break down and cry?".

Well, in this show, laShirl gets down to the deep and meaningfuls with a few tunes
that have at one time or another, seen her dissolve into a puddle of tears.
Some of them still do! ... or at least hold very precious memories of people, places and times. Some are still here on this Earth, some sadly are no longer.

Now I hear you guffaw "Burl Ives!?" Yes, listener, the particular Burl Ives track in this show can drive Shirl to tears ... though maybe not for the same reason as yourselves.

Whether its about catharsis, melancholy, solopsism , reading between the lines or just a gorgeous string arrangement, your favourite sob sister Shirl likes nothing more than have a good howl once in a while.

So, tissues at the ready my low-fi luvverlies and take a moment to wonder where the time goes.
