- Chaiscout - somewhere in the big ole U S of A :::: sorry, l
can't quite like Gene the same way my mum and aunties did when
they used to have record sessions , remember them?, when my dad
was at work and they were fedup. then they would get thier pals,

and mrKenneth, thank you. A potent voice from my childhood that
I never really registered as a legitimate artist (because I was
too lazy or Bowie-and Beatle-focused, maybe?). This is a wonderful
selection, the last few songs are just blockbuster. Lynne - somewhere
in the big ole U S of A :::: This is great! - Adele - brisvegas
:::: Ta, Mr K! And thanks very much, too, for the recent LaShirl
show. :-) I really love the LaShirl radio shows -- perfect to
have playing while I'm catching up on any BWW shenanigans. ;-)
It's such a shame about Gene Pitney. He wasn't even old! I couldn't
get to the online BBC article about his death, mainly, I think,
because their servers had decided to slow down to a virtual halt.
I'll try again later. From what Mr C told me though (he listens
to the news in the car on the way home from work), Gene was healthy,
no medical problems, so it was totally unexpected for him to go
like that. I imagine more details will come out over the next
few days. - Jackie C - UK :::: Currently listening to the show...
Really great, Ken! Christer, wonderful performance!! If Bowie
looks for Garson's replacement, you should candidate!! - PierreV
- Strasbourg :::: Russ, I have had my cake, and my wishes have
come true! This is incredible, all for lil' ole' me??? blush.gif
This #1 Chest Thesis fan is pretty much all amazed out! If this
doesn't make it to #1 in Alberta and Florida, at least, well,
then there's no justice! love29.gif Guys, words fail me. I thought
#48 was as special as a birthday could get, celebrating with all
of you, but this.... well, there's no better gift for a music
fan that the gift of music, right? So, consider me gifted, to
say the least. Long live BA, long live all of you! Thank you from

when it came on!) Rock on, dudes, and thanks again, you are simply

magic spell. - Mike - Ohio :::: Dear Lynne, hope you manage to
scout out the best possible day - have a fantastic time!!! I want
to see pix of you dancing with a feather boa as proof. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Love Louisexxx - Melbourne :::: Oh, Mr K!!! What a fantastic show
for Mike's birthday. :) And I'm so honoured to have 'Little Liza
Mike (Miss Elizabeth ;))' included with a name check on the web
page. Wonderful too, for me, to have discovered 'Boy Wonder',
which I thought was superb. My kind of music. These shows of yours
(and La Shirl's ;)) are what being a Bowie fan is all about, in
my opinion. I bet, as well, that Lou Reed would love your shows!
What with his pre-Velvets past, writing for Pickwick Records (I
think it was them anyway), I think he would appreciate the selection
of tunes you pick for the shows, not just musically, but that
whole of 'telling of story' that goes with these songs. :) Please
send BA Mike (Mr Wonderful) my very best wishes for his birthday,
and hope to maybe see you on BWW soon. Much love to you, La Shirl,
a Mike, and talk very soon! Jackie (C) xxxxx - UK :::: Ken & La
Shirl great to see that your around- helping to keep the community
connected- Congratulations Mike many more !!! Jung of the left

Thank you so much for this WONDERFUL gift! I really wasn't expecting
this at all, I was just meandering into my morning mail check
and BOOM B-Day greetings from laShirl! I'm so stoked to have a
birthday show in my honor, you've made me feel special, thank
you for the gift of music and laughter (I had quite a few guffaws
this morn listening to your intro). The song selection is a blast,
from Ma Kettle (I LOVE Ma Kettle) to Zsa Zsa, superb collection
Daaaling! One million smooches to you! Mike PS. The Robin song
is just absolutely crazy, what a gem! Black Hole Sun by Steve
and Eydie that is totally whacked. - mike - Ohio - our birthday
boy of the moment :::: Existential question: if a redhead shaves
his head, is he still a redhead??? Hmm, it may be necessary to
have achieved a certain wisdom to answer this... perhaps like
that personified by a certain shaved-head redhead who turns *49*
this very day, DEAR MIKE!!! laShirl and our own mrKenneth have
put together quite the show for you, goin' back to a time when
your red head could be seen bobbing around the local JC Penny
in search of a Batman periscope for 77¢! So enjoy, and we'll listen
along, feting you all the way! Have a Happy Birthday, dear Mike!!

a lucky boy that TJ is to have such a super collection devoted
to him. You are back for good now aren't you? - smallPaul - Sydney
:::: Mornin' Ken! (and nudge laShirl for me, dear girl, if you've
relented and let her spend the week at your place - hope she hasn't
trashed the joint - it's time she rolled out as well). Just ran
your beloved radio program again. So hon, this is just to tell
you once again how wonderful you are and how lucky I am to know
you. You probably hear that all the time from members of your
extensive fan base, but it's no less true for that. You are priceless.
Love, Lynne aka Chaiscout - somewhere in the big ole US of A.
PS - I love Lulu the best, I think. She is one cool kitten. ::::
Dear Ken....Sonic strudle was bloody marvellous, the KISS sounding
esp. nice, early KRAFTWERK-ish (who'd have thought?) - I used
to have Kraftwerk's self-titled first double album - best thing
they ever did and stand-out Krautrock. No more Shirley? (Did I
misread?) Say it ain't so, Mr Kenneth. Say it ain't so. - DMc
- brisbane :::: and just when radioShirley was getting super freaky!
Alas :( Looking forward to an impromptu re-entry from you in the
very nearest of futures. Adieu my dearest bytebitch! - geebee

to listen to a radio shirley at work - laughing while doing mundane

:::: la Shirl. Sorry I haven't written for so long, but I have
been tuning in. I really have!!! Doin the Shirley was a hoot!
Now our little IRC commune has died I miss our swapping of brickbats
in real time. How about putting a chat room on the page honey
so we can all get together again and bitch our glorious brains
out? Keep smudging up the netwaves darlink! - geebee - Auckland
:::: miss Shirley. Let me introduce myself. My name is Pearce
and am an Aussie boy stranded in San Francisco. Not such a bad
place to be stranded in I must add. My dear friend smallPaul,
who I believe you met via IRC, passed on the address for your
show. Love it! Loved Doin the Shirley with you darl. I had two
of the guys I share with trying to teach me how to Madison while
listening to the broadcast! Suffice to say we all ended up in
a giggling girly heap on the rug! Keep those tunes beaming and
streaming and don't forget to add me to your list! I want more
more more! - Pearce - San Francisco :::: Shirl...we put our left
legs in and pulled our left legs out of their sockets while doin
the Hokey Pokey in last weeks show! That's not part of the dance
is it? Oh btw I've passed on your address to some people I am
sure will be soon new Shirleyphiles! love on ya! - smallPaul -
Sydney :::: Shirley ...last weeks Doin the Shirley show was a
cracker but my dear. I think I slipped my disco while Swampfox
and I were dancing with attitude to Fred Astaire! One minute I've
come over all Madonna like...you know...striking a pose and then
...ouch!!....the pose stuck! You are my favourite internet radio
slut...you know you are but I really think that some of these
shows really should come with a health warning!...yours lathered
up in Dencorub....ps...Swampfox sends a big wet one to you - miss[e]
- melbourne :::: Was Uncle fester's partner 'thing'? Now there
was a creature made for self pleasuring if ever i saw one. - bigredbrisvegas
aka Lisa - brisvegas :::: Shirl, bless you. We're very saddened
here by Nina's passing. We thank you for devoting your show this
week to an incomparable artist and hope that some of your listeners
who have not had the chance to hear her, will now join us as Nina
admirers. Her music has been constantly playing in our house today
as a tribute. We're sure the sounds of Nina have been playing
around the world and are at the moment being sung in heaven today.
Anya and Mirko - Poland :::: la Shirl...thank you for your tribute
to Nina....may she ring through the webwaves this week as she
will in our musical hearts and minds evermore.....love... miss[e]
+ SwampFox - melbourne :::: Thank you Ken. We saw Nina live some
years back down the coast. It was wonderful. One of the first
albums I bought ($1.99 from Coles in the city) back too many years
to to talk about in polite company, was Nina. I think it was called
'Gin House Blues'...but if not, that was one of the tracks and
still one of my favourites.I have been an enduring Nina fan since
my youth. For me she will be sadly missed. thank you thank you,....
Eva - Wynnum :::: Oh my god ... found out. That secret stash of
records left over from my 6th birthday has come back to haunt
me. If you enjoyed Eric Liffman just wait - in light of a certain
playlist the next item on the agenda will just have to be Daffy
Duck singing about brewing Grow Small Juice to Bugs .....Round
and round and round it goes .....Doesn't smell bad if you hold
your nose.....he he, ha ha (Repeat ad nauseam)...Or maybe the
Woody Woodpecker show or Eric Satie...So many choices ....Thanks
Mr Kenneth and La Shirl - it was a real birthday treat, not to
be forgotten for a long long time. I now have a new hero and role
model - Gerald McBoing Boing. Move over Star Bellied Sneetches.
- Peter - Samford :::: (message from la Shirl...methinks Eva the
Diva has been hitting the happy sauce whilst typing her thankyous...see

py bir thday too me. Haappy birtthhday....mr......thank you miss
Shirley. I nearly said Mr Kenneethh - 'cause it works....but why
acknowledge the man servant when the wonderful woman should be
toasted. She truely is a woman of taste...Mae West was just the
best..and I'm crazy about the South American songstress....but
who told you about the karaoke...hmmmm.. I wonder??? Maybe miss
Shirley would like to join trish and me in a Sinatra sonata one

the mixes of late...but you are the flute of your universe aren't
you sweety?...and ooo er...mr. Kenneth sounds quite a dish...give
him a squeeze from me...Swampfox - melbourne :::: Shirl what a
winner ! how did you know ? who have you been talking to ? when
i was just a little sprocket living in the eastern suburbs of
toowoomba, i had a radio/casette tape player .. one fateful day
the local am radio station played ...convoy..., i happened to
be in the room, there was a blank tape in the machine.. each day
from then on for what seemed to me months (to mum + dad, it probably
seemed to be years) i would play the song twenty, thirty times
a day. i recall asking dad to bring home from the school he was
teaching at, a double tape deck - at the time the height of hi-fi,
upon which i dubbed a non-stop mix of the truckin song, both sides
of a 60min tape. ah aural heaven. i'd run laps around the loungeroom
speaking tough into my clenched fist ...yeah its a big ten-four
there buddy...gigantor! ben's favourite jap-cute-punk band from
melbourne...mach pelican... do a sweet cover of this, sublime,
but i had never heard the original.Shirl, you could have given
