EASY BABY BLANKET
Good for beginners or burned out experienced knitters.

This is a very easy baby blanket, perfect size for car seats and prams -- about 32" by 36".
It's so easy a beginner can learn on it, and experienced knitters will find it very relaxing.
It's just a blanket with a garter stitch border (to keep it from curling at the edges).

Materials requred: about 12 ounces of pastel acrylic yarn; Straight knitting needles - 10 1/2 or 11 (I use 11, it gives a nice drape to the finished product)
2 stitch markers.

Other options:
Knit several in bright primary colors and stitch together to make a coverlet.
The 32x36 size for babies;
double sized for afghan;
or several baby sized stitched together for a coverlet.

Instructions:
Cast on 116 or 120 stitches; knit 10 rows for garter stitch border.
Then work in pattern as follows:
Row 1 - K7; place marker for side border; purl to last 7 st; place marker for side border; K7.
Row 2 - K
Row 3 - K7; purl to marker; slip marker; K7
Row 4 - K
Row 5 - K7; purl to marker; slip makrer; K7
Rows 6 - 10 - K

Repeat these 10 rows 14 times more, ending with Row 5.

Knit 10 rows for top garter stitch border.

Bind off.
