ACTIVITIES at General Meeting nights can include:

  • lectures by guest- speakers
  • special information 'round-robins'
  • "Interest Table" - space set aside at each meeting for members to share new books or seed catalogues or magazines, flowering or unusual plants, new C&S equipment or media...

FACILITIES available to members at General Meeting nights include: 

  • quality plants at the sales tables
  • extensive C&S library
  • specially priced C&S pots and chemicals
  • C&S seed bank

Membership in CSSQ grants you:

  • opportunities for bus trips to remote members' collections
  • the quarterly journal, Dinteranthus
  • field day visits to local members' collections

CSSQ MONTHLY PROGRAM - 2009
Competition plants must be grown on their own roots unless
otherwise stated and in the owner's possession for at least 6 months.



26 JANUARY

Cultural Notes and Competition: Ferocactus by David Todd
Special Competition: Cyphostemma, Cissus.

23 FEBRUARY

Cultural Notes and Competition: Euphorbia Group 1. Subglobose and similar by Paul Forster.
Interest Table: Bring a plant in to show other members.
AGM: Selection of committee and other office bearers for 2009.
Main Activity: Virtual Field Day - members to bring in and share slides of plants, trips ( e.g. Gilgandra ) or other slides of interest.

30 MARCH

Special Competition: Conophytum in flower.

June Show Discussion: Final wrap-up on judging, sales (tickets/delivery/timing), and display requirements.
Main Activity: A CSSQ response to Ian Hay's presentation on "I wish" slides - Members to collate slides from other collections/ other sources, of plants that they would love to have.

Main Activity: Round robin - Growing Succulents - Tips on mixes, pots, watering, seasonal variations, propagation, pest and disease control - discussion involving everyone on all aspects of growing succulents. Hosted by Ruth Higgins, Merv Whitehouse and Paul Forster.

Bring in plants and other Christmas gifts for our huge end of year raffle. Members to bring in a plate of eats for Christmas break-up social that follows raffle.
