AIRCRAFT FLEET
"Throughout its history, EgyptAir's
underlying philosophy has been to provide the latest in aircraft technology
to its passengers coupled with the traditional Egyptian hospitality."
- EgyptAir Statement
EgyptAir, the first carrier formed in the Arab World and Africa,
services a fleet of around 50 modern aircraft in its own premises at Cairo
International Airport. The average age of the company's fleet is only around
six years and the airline continues to purchase new aircraft from Boeing
and Airbus Industries.
Last year, EgyptAir introduced the comfortable Boeing
777-200 on some of its long-haul flights such as Cairo to Sydney via Singapore
which takes just 17.5 flying hours.
Types of aircraft in the fleet include the Boeing 737-200,
737-500, 747, 767-200, 767-300, and 777-200, as well as Airbus A300-600,
300B, A320, 340-200, and A321.
As EgyptAir continues to upgrade its fleet, the range of inflight services
is expanding, e.g. on international flights there is now international
telephone call access: in First and Horus (Business Class) on the Airbuses
and Boeing 777s, calls can be made from the seat's remote control paddle, while wireless telephones are available to passengers in other cases.
Personal LCD televisions are installed in the armrests
of some aircraft providing a wide range of audio-visual material, including
the inflight maps that display the aircraft's current location, the route
followed and other interesting information.
