Local Group

For some relaxed and informal 'time out', treat yourself to a Australian Breastfeeding Association local coffee morning, morning or evening discussion. Some group members, mothers like yourself, will be opening up their homes to you on these occasions. Visitors are welcome to attend two meetings before becoming subscribers who financially support the association for AU$50/year. You do not have to be a breastfeeding mother - just interested in meeting some local mothers OR learning about breastfeeding OR willing to exchange ideas on the skill of mothering OR interested in listening to one of our informative guest speakers OR simply wanting to know about how YOU fit into ABA's friendly and supportive network of mothers.

These group gatherings cost nothing. Tea and coffee are provided. Bring a plate to share if you can manage it. Children and babies are welcome to coffee mornings and morning discussion. Babies are most welcome to evening discussions. A trained breastfeeding counsellor (a mother herself) will be at all gatherings for help with breastfeeding.

If you wish to purchase goods from ABA's extensive catalogue of quality products, you may do so through your local group without incurring the usual postage and packing charges. Each group also has its own library of books on breastfeeding and parenting which are available for borrowing.

Australian Breastfeeding Association also runs Breastfeeding Education Classes which you are invited to attend. These classes provide basic breastfeeding information, techniques, hints on mothering, videos, and an opportunity to meet other pregnant mothers.

If you need help or information now, call the Queensland Branch office on (07) 3324 0577or ABA's seven-day Breastfeeding Helpline numbers (07) 3844 8166 or (07) 3844 8977.
