Subject:     A roundabout request

I'm a freelance journalist and I'm hoping to get in touch with anyone involved with the Woomera Warriors basketball team which used to travel on a weekly basis to Port Augusta for a game from about 1990 to as late as 1999.

I'm particularly keen to hear from anyone who was involved with the team in the early 1990s (approx. 1990-93), as I am looking to put together a story on the team from that era.

Subject:     Weather in Woomera

I was after some information and photographs of the weather that occurs in Woomera. I am mainly interested in the Thunderstorm activity in the region. After looking at the Bureau of Meteorology radar several times, I have noticed that Woomera gets some pretty decent sized storms. Does  anyone know of anyone with photographs or reports on the Thunderstorms?

Thank you, loved the site on Woomera too, was really interesting to read about the history behind the township.

Subject:     Woomera

I'm blown away by your page which I stumbled across this morning.  I was born at the base hospital in Woomera in June 1961 and lived there until the early 70s.

I went back to Woomera in 1985 and was able to identify some of the bits and pieces lying around in the Heritage Centre.  My name is Anne Hayes and my mother's name was Irene Arnold (nee MacFarlane).  Her family were pioneers from Scotland (Dugald and Lucy MacFarlane) and she later married Ian Hayes (a British soldier).  They both worked out at Range E.

I was a member of the pony club and remember the names of two of my school friends... Virginia Hogg and Tracey Ellis.  I also remember emus grazing on the front lawn and they still scare the wits out of me!  If anyone would like to write to me they can do so at the e-mail address below.

Cheers,
Anne

Subject:     Woomera

Hello! Ex-Woomerites,

Firstly, I would like to thank Mark for this web site.  My name is Deidre (Dee) Child, (Nee Williams). Like most of you I also lived (actually I was born there) in Woomera for the first 14 years of my life. My parents are Claire and Frank (Grey Ghost) Williams, and I also have a sister Myriam (Mim). My Mum was connected with the Scouts and Softball and my Dad was a member of the R.S.L, Kooly Football Club and also helped with the swimming club. Sadly in Dec '97, my Dad passed away after a long illness, but Mum is doing fine.

We lived in Woomera until Dec '80. We moved to Adelaide, where I still live, and I'm married with 3 beautiful kids. I also would love to hear from any one who can remember us.

I would also like to let you know that on the first Sunday in May there is a Woomera reunion held every year at Mitcham Reserve, Brown Hill Creek Rd, Mitcham. And also one at Bonython Park on the last Sunday in October.

Once again thanks for this web site and I hope to hear from someone soon.

Subject:     Thank you

Hello, just found your webpage and thought it was awesome. I once lived in Woomera for 2 years 83-85. I have very fond memories there, as do my sister. Framora, Jennifer, and me (Christy Wallace then). Now Christy Card, Framora Crawford, Jennifer Baker. My dad was in the USAF. He retired in 86, Tucson, AZ. My sisters and I had a great times there as young teenage girls. We loved the track and field games they had at the area school. I also remember the Blue light dances they had. Ghosh, those days were so cool. If anyone was there at that time and knew us, I would love to hear from you all.

Here are the few names I can remember: Scott Butcher, Daniel Hoff, Heather ?, Erin, Kyle.

Thanks again for the website!

Subject:     John McDonald

Just found your Web page - marvellous! I wonder if anyone remembers my uncle, a Scot, by the name of  John McDonald, who worked at the range in the late 50 - 60's.

Thanks for any information that I receive.

Subject:    Woomera 1986-1989

I have many fond memories of Woomera.  I was stationed there from 1986-1989.  I worked at Nurrungar in the Data Reduction Center as part of the 5 DSCS, JDSCS.  When I first arrived in Woomera, I lived in the "Dog Pound" for several months before moving to the "Morgue."  After I got married, my wife and I lived in one of the flats on Dewrang Avenue.  I would love to catch up with the people who were stationed there with me.

Take care.

Subject:    Woomera site requests

I was in Woomera twice in the seventies.  The second time I worked at Nurrungar.  The people that I particularly would love to catch up with are Australians; Julie and Sharon Smoker, Maggie Daly, Karen Peterson, Marguerite Daly (now Davie) and Americans Mike Girard (might be spelt Gerrard) and Joe Henderson.

My name then was Joan Camenzuli and I have a daughter Heather Dawn Camenzuli, born on 15th July, 1977.

Anyone with any infomation on people who were in Woomera between 1971-1977, please contact me.
