Subject:    Woomera South Australia

I have stumbled upon your web site several times today and finally decided to just write to you. I lived in Woomera for 2 years ( early 89- late 90) and I was hoping that maybe you had some E-mail addresses of some people who still live there. I looked every place on the web and found nothing on Woomera the town. No E-mail addresses for the kids entertainment place behind the Theatre, no E-mail for the Theatre either.

I can only remember Bill Lockett son of the town Mayor of sorts. I was young then, only 16 when I left. I miss Woomera very much and would love to get in contact with some people there. I also remember Danny and Paddy Jordan. Danny drove the tour buses to Adelaide. I also know that an old friend of mine Dan Vorlander now lives in Woomera. He left when he was 16 and now is in the Airforce and asked to be stationed out there.

Thank you so much
Kim

Subject:    Memories

I worked at Woomera in a joint project with the Aust Defence Dept, USAF & NASA in 1970 and 1971 and would love to catch up with a friend James William Smith who I worked with at Nurrungar.

James was in Canberra in December 1998 and rang my father in Adelaide, but unfortunately did not make contact with me.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of Jim could they please contact me or get Jim to contact me as I would love to catch up after 29 years.

Woomera was an extremely busy and exciting place in the early 70's with all the ELDO launches and approximately 5000 personnel living in the village so there was plenty to do and plenty of parties to attend.

Subject:    Grandfather/Brother employment at Woomera

I am trying to find information about past employees at the range.  Both my Grandfather - Edward Joseph Honan and my brother Brendan James Russell have worked at the range at one time or another.  Can you assist me with the right direction to take.

Subject:    Woomera!

Just a note to Woomerites from a few years previous to my birth, when my parents arrived 196? up until 1980, when we up and left. I was born in 1969 at Woomera hospital. My father arrived as a fitter and turner and ended up at the 'range' as a technical officer of many descriptions. I spent the first 11 years of my life in this little town, I loved it.

We lived in Goonda Street for most of the time I remember, next to the High School. That's right, by fluke of my school life there I arrived just after the area school expanded and not long after I left we heard it was an area school again. I visited a friend twice in the late 80's but haven't been back since. I'd love to hear from Kieran Brown, my best friend for many years and Raymond Duigood, god knows when we lost touch.

My father's name was Peter Ball and my mother Beryl. My older sister is Sharon. My aunt was Pat and uncle Keith Harris (Married there).

Love to hear from anyone for anything.  My father will be on the net very soon and I'd love to get some contacts to give him when his Email is up and running, he' s 63 or so now and remembers much of the 12+ years he spent there.

All the best everyone and please drop us a line!

Subject:    Woomera 1983-1984

Can you please post this message on your excellent Woomera Web page. That photo of the launch pad looks like the one where I used to go hiking with one of my Australian buddies.

I want to say HI!! to anyone who was at Woomera and especially during 1983-1984. Even after  living in the old ELDO barracks (DOG POUND), where you had to go outside to use the bathrooms,  I had one of the best times down there. If anyone knows about the annual Woomera reunion held in Colorado Springs please send me an E-mail.

Best Regards,

I am Charles (Chuck) Lindke and Helen Winn's (Linke) current and permanent lover. Remember the Woomera call girl? {The JDCS Telephonist) Australia's contact with America. We are married and living in northern Michigan (Harrisville) on a farm with a small cat and a big Labrador retriever dog.

Some of our friends were Babs Paddon,  Barbara Monk, Sid and Lee May, Val Dexter, Jimmie Ross, Bill Tebay and others who drank at Helen's Place!!!!

We miss the good days in the ELDO & the Works Club. We were there in the 70's

We would like to hear from any one who remembers us.

Subject:    Whereabouts of Alan Richards

My name is Howard Johnson (stationed at Woomera June 1977 to Dec 1979).

My family has kept in touch with some of our Australian friends, but has lost touch with RAAF Corporal (later Sergeant) Alan Richards.  Last known address was in NSW near Newcastle.

I don't know if you can help, but would appreciate any help you can give.

He was deep into electronics and computers, so if he is still in Australia he would be on the Net.  But none of the people searches I can do here in the US turn him up.

Christmas is coming and I'd like to re-establish touch with him.

Thank You
Howard Johnson

Subject:    Woomera Memories

I was in Woomera for 4 years from the beginning of '62 with the Army guided Weapons Trials Unit. It seems there is a lot of interest and nostalgia about the old place and I also often think about it as those were among the most enjoyable and memorable years of my life.  If anyone can remember back to those days and would like talk about them please contact me.

Subject:    Hello Down Under! - Australia Day

Please pass on our greetings to the friends who pass by your Web Site. We enjoyed the time at Woomera, (April 92-Aug 96) with fond memories of Aussie Footy (Go Roos!), putting on the Inaugural Rodeo, playing DJ at the Triple R radio station and making friends. We are living now in Florida, with plans to have a mini-reunion of Woomeraits' on Australia Day. I'm sure lies and long stories will be told, we can't wait! Please pass on our email to those who might wish to contact us.
