Many thanks to the lady who made use of the Woomera
Web Site to let people know about the sad passing of Brian. It was indeed
sad news about a truly caring man, particularly when living in a extreme
location like Woomera. He not only showed care and considerations to his
immediate defence responsibilities, but also to the dependents of those
members. Thank you
Brian.

Subject: Woomera
Our students have been working away on the Woomera project. They are currently in the final stages of designing a park on the old swimming pool site.
I am continuing on my own lines of research and I wondered if you could help me out. I am trying to find out more information on R. H. Patterson. He was an aboriculturalist for the Commonwealth Department of Works and did early work on the planting of Woomera. He wrote a publication on his research and practical experiments with plant material and I have looked at this. I really need to find out more information about him (and the publication) because I am following a lead for my PhD. Do you know anything about him or could you suggest anyone still alive who might have known him? Ideally, I would like to track down him or his descendents.
Yours sincerely,
Andrew Saniga

I have visited the site on Woomera several times. In fact our son, Patrick, has left a posting there. I am Kathy Crouch. My husband John was stationed there with the US Air Force from 1982-1984. I volunteered at Family Services for the Air Force, doing the briefings for new U.S. arrivals.
We enjoyed our time there and have actually kept in touch with others who were stationed there at the same time. John's next duty station was at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. John retired from the Air Force and we are still in the Denver area.

Great site. It is funny that when you are in the town you seem to spend so much of your time dreaming of getting out, but once you are out you get all melancholy and dream of going back.
I was in Woomera between 1982 and 1987, did all of my high schooling up there. I would love to hear from anyone who was there at the same time, same age, etc.
Would really like to hear from Randall Lilly, Jade Taylor, Stewie Hudson, Perry Sisco, Danny Brennan, Brett Checker and anyone else from the class of 86.

Subject: Woomera Archery
I happened upon the Woomera site while searching around on matters dealing with archery. Reference is made to the Desert Bowmen in one of the reminisences.
I recall that some of our (now older) members from down South either visited Woomera for a regular archery tournament or archers from Woomera visited Adelaide. I would be pleased to hear from any Woomera archers on the subject of the Desert Bowmen, as ARCHERY SA's historical records are very sparse.
Many thanks for any assistance you can offer.

This is Mike Logan. I lived in Woomera from 1991-1993, as did the rest of my family. If you're familiar with any of the Logans, please contact me at insane@gv2.net
On a side note, I just read about the Coffee Lounge closing - I was very saddened, as I had a lot of good memories there. Tell me, was the Sonia that was working there at the time, Sonia F?
Cheers,
Mike Logan

Subject: Woomera and requests
My name is Norman Hoy, I have sisters Dorothy, Margaret and Elizabeth, parents are Ruby and Norman (deceased). Dad moved to Woomera in 1959 with the family following, we were in Port Pirie until dad could get a house in 1963. The family left Woomera in 1981 when dad became very ill with that Woomera disease, cancer, after spending a lot of time in Mirrakarta.
I left to attend RMIT in Melbourne, paid for by the RAAF in 1972 and returned to Woomera several times over the years. I have not been to Woomera since 1984 and I do realise it is vastly different to "our days". I am happily married now with 3 grown children and would be happy to write something about what us "kids" did for your site if you wish.
I also have a request for you to post my e-mail address in case anyone wishing to contact me can. I would be interested in any re-unions that are being planned.
I do also have a request that if anyone knows
where Robyn Whittle is, or if she reads this, please get in touch I would
love to
speak/catchup and reminisce.
Thanks
Norman Hoy

Subject: B 29s at Woomera
Hello Mark,
I found your web site while searching for articles on Woomera. You have done a comprehensive job, well done.
I am reasearching the history of those B-29s that served with the RAF in the 1950s. As you may know, 2 were loaned to the RAAF and used by the ARDU Trials Flight. I believe that these were based at Woomera. The planes were: WW353 and WW354 and they were loaned between 23/9/52 and 25/9/54. When in Australia they were apparently ecoded as A76-1 and A76-2 respectively).
If you have any information on what use was made of these planes I would be most interested.
All the very best

My name is Rob Dillon, I operate the Post office here in Woomera. I am in the middle of putting together a project, For now I will call it Woomera Project CD, where I have collected some 300 to 400 photographs of Woomera as it stands today, most of which I have taken myself. I have included the surrounding area.
I do plan to sell this product, but only for the cost price as it has to be a break even project, but I was wondering if you or any of your readers would like to share their photos of Woomera so that I may show it as then and now type set up.
On a note of interest for former residents, the Post Office now occupies the old butcher shop, and apart from the post office, I help to keep the radio station alive (for the moment) as funds are tight. I am a volunteer projectionist at the Woomera theatre, a member of the Woomera Board and am active in many of the clubs within the place we call home.
Regards
Rob Dillon
