Subject:     Ex-Woomera person 1992-1994

Have just found this site  - great.

I was posted to 1JSU whilst in the Australian Army. Contact with anybody who lived in Woomera at the time would be great.

I lived behind the tennis court at 18 Gooyong St., was a member of the Lions club and enjoyed selling donuts on a Sunday
morning, also helping out with BBQs down at the park. My daughter was born in Adelaide in Aug 1993 and we left when she was 4 months old.

I am still in contact with friends I made whilst living there - Glen Ashe, Malcolm and Anne Place, Terry O'shea to name some.

Again, thanks for a great site - it has brought back a lot of memories.

Subject:     Dr C. F. Bareford

Thank you for your comprehensive site on Woomera.

Although I have no direct connection with Woomera, I am enquiring on my mother's behalf about the Superintendance of the late Dr Christopher Bareford (my uncle) and the royal visit made to Woomera by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh in (I think) 1953. We have photographs of the visit, but we think a film was made at the time, and if anybody knows of  it, I would be grateful for any info.

I would also be interested in any other information of my uncle's time at Woomera.

Best wishes for your site - it seems that Woomera is prospering quietly.

Subject:     Finding Old Friends

I have a request for your request page, we would like to find friends that we had in Woomera.

We lived in Woomera from August 1993 to December 1995, an all too short time. Like many others we did not realise this till we left. While in Woomera we made friends with many people and in particular we would like to find two USAF people that my husband worked with.

Firstly is Dave Owen, his wife Debbie and their three girls, Brandi, Holly and Gemma.

Secondly is Ed Domingo who's nickname was "Dingo", his wife and two children. We would just like to catch-up and we have often wondered where and how they are!

Any information from anyone about them would be appreciated. Or from anyone who remembers my husband, Len Harrison.

Thanks for the web site and keep up the good work, it is a special place.

Thanks for the memories!

Len and Jan Harrison and kids

Subject:     Born in Woomera 1969

My name is Mark Surman. I was born on the 11th of  October, 1969. My father worked on Pimba Railway line as a fettler around this time. I was born in Woomera Base Hospital and spent the first 21 years growing up in Melbourne. I'm a fitter and turner by trade and currently studying at James Cook University, First year, Welfare Worker.  I'd like to hear from other people like myself who lived in Woomera and knew my father, Clarence Surman. Keep the Woomera spirit in there and I'll get back to you later.

Truly,
Mark Surman JP qualified

Subject:     Woomera 1960-1976

I was born in Woomera in 1960 and would like to hear from anyone that I went to school with. My maiden name was Jeanne Anderson and I have a brother one year younger called David. (His nick name was Abo). I am still in contact with a few school friends, but have not been able to find quite a number of them. Maybe this will help!

Thanks,
Jeanne
