John Rigby is a long-established Australian artist whose career has spanned more than 60 years.
During this time he has had a career in commercial art, served as a Trustee of the Queensland Art Gallery for 18 years from 1969 to 1987, and taught and administered at the Queensland College of Art (now part of Griffith University) from 1973 to 1984.
He continues to travel and paint both in Australia and overseas. His paintings of tropical Queensland, the Outback of Australia and the South Pacific have been appreciated for many decades. A book on his art and life has been published in 2003.
