This second section of Egypt from space will eventually be expanded with a new detailed tour of Egypt from above that is currently being prepared. In the meantime, enjoy another view of Egypt - this time taken with the equivalent of a telephoto lens from beyond the distance of our Moon.

Egypt and surrounding areas as seen from the Galileo
spacecraft
from an altitude of about 500,000 kilometres on December 9, 1992, as it
flew past Earth en route to the planet Jupiter. The image shows Egypt
left
of centre, with the Nile Valley clearly visible. Also in view is
the Red Sea, Israel, Jordan, and the Arabian Peninsula. Khartoum in
Sudan
is below the cloud and Somalia is partly covered by clouds at the lower
right.
